Translocation

Translocation is the movement of sucrose and amino acids in phloem from regions where they are produced (source) to regions where they are stored or used for respiration and growth (sink). Translocation routes may differ in a potato plant between winter and summer, moving nutrients from the source to wherever they are needed as a sink.
