Bondurant-Farrar Community Schools Artifact Artifact Title: Aheinz57 Email Correspondence

This artifact summarizes an email correspondence between the author and AHeinz57, a nonprofit animal rescue, to have a representative come speak to the author's preschool class during a study on pets. The representative brought pictures and videos to demonstrate what the rescue does. In a reflection, the author notes that bringing expert visitors into the classroom is important for project work and that having the representative earlier in the study next time could help guide the project.

Description of artifact and how the artifact meets the standard:

The artifact shown shows correspondence between myself and the staff at AHeinz57, a nonprofit animal rescue. I contacted them during the preschool study on Pets to come to speak to
our class. I used my previous relationship with the rescue to have students establish a connection
with the rescue and to help them understand what rescues do.

Reflection on artifact (what went right, what went wrong, how to make better)

I thought the Aheinz57 visitor, Ali, did an excellent job of connecting with the preschool students
and sharing her perspective of what the rescue does with students. She brought pictures and
video in to demonstrate. I know that bringing expert visitors into the classroom is extremely
important in project work, and students get very excited when new visitors come to our room. I
believe I would make this better by having a speaker come at the beginning stages of our study,
rather than the end to see where it leads our project of study on pets.
