Dangling Modifiers

A dangling modifier is when a word or phrase that is intended to modify a specific word in a sentence is separated from the word it modifies, making it unclear which word is being modified. This can confuse the reader. To identify a dangling modifier, look for sentences where the word being modified is missing. Examples are provided, such as "Driving down the road, the cat was hit by a truck" which is unclear. Dangling modifiers can be corrected by adding the missing word to make clear what is being modified.
