clarity of your answers (E.g. Is it easy to read/follow your logic/follow your thought process?).

1. SAC is organizing the winter formal and all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to charity.
Tickets to the dance cost $31.25 per person if a minimum of 104 people attend. For every 8 extra
people that attend, the price will decrease by $1.25 per person.

2. MMHS senior girls basketball team won their last game with a final second shot! The path of the
basketball shot can be modeled by the equation h(d) = 0.125d 2 + 0.707d + 2.5 , where h is the height of
the basketball, in meters, and d is the horizontal distance of the ball from the player, in metres.
a. Find the maximum height reached by the ball to the nearest tenth of a metre.

[A:2]
b. What is the horizontal distance of the ball from the player when it reaches its maximum height
to the nearest tenth of the metre?
