Goal Seek in Excel

Goal Seek is a feature in Excel that determines an unknown value to reach a desired goal or target value. For example, it can find the value of cell E7 that would make the product of cells E6 and E7 equal to 72, given that E6 is 8. The user sets the target cell and value, indicates the cell to change, and Excel calculates the value that meets the goal.

Goal Seek in Excel 2007 to 2013

"Goal Seek" is a method which aids you in forecasting values.


OR
Goal Seek is a feature in Microsoft Excel that will determine a value for you, based
on a desired goal. Goal seek works using at least 2 fields, one of which is a
calculation.
Example :
We want to multiply two values in the given cell

Now the condition is that if we now only first cell value that is E6 where value is 8
But we dont know the value at E7. And we want the answer 72 so we need the
judge the value at E7. So for doing this we can use goal seek option
Do the following step:
Step 1: enter value 8 in cell E6

Step 2: now left the second cell E7 blank.


Step 3: now enter formula =E6*E7 in cell E8.

Step 4: now go to data what if analysis goal seek , now you see the
goal seek window where you see set cell as E8. Show DIAGRAM - 1

Now enter 72 in To value and E7 in by changing cell and press ok and you
will see the result. Show in DIAGRAM - 2

After pressing ok you will see the result as show in DIAGRAM 3.
