The purpose of this letter is to support the teaching application for Sarah
Harmon. I had the pleasant opportunity to supervise Sarah during her
student teaching experience at South Union Elementary in Des Moines, Iowa
from August 31st thru December 11th of 2015 while she worked with 5 th grade
children. I would like to support her teaching application by elaborating on
her skills.
During Sarahs student teaching experience I conducted several formal
observations based on the Iowa Teaching Standards. I observed Sarah exhibit
positive expectations for all students, establish good classroom management
techniques and design lessons for student mastery. The range of abilities and
disabilities was vast at South Union Elementary. However, while serving
those students she addressed each students needs with tenacity and
creativity.
Sarah has made a lasting impression when it comes to her rapport,
responsibility, and resourcefulness. Her competence to adjust quickly to the
needs of young students is a definite strength. She has the ability to help
them feel safe and nurtured, challenged and encouraged.
Sarah Harmons flexibility in working with students, teachers, administration
and the public earned her an enviable reputation as a young educator who
truly cares about education and people. Without question, she has the
academic preparation, the dedication and the people skills to become a
competent teacher in any educational program.
I believe that Sarah Harmon would be an excellent candidate for a teaching
position. She possesses the highest level of professional commitment and
competency in her work with students and colleagues.
