Hofestede model are as follows:

1. Power Distance, related to the different solutions to the basic problem of


human Inequality or it is defined as the extent to which the less powerful
members of organizations and institutions (like the family) accept and
expect that power is distributed unequally.
Representation factors at worksite are: Hierarchy, Centralization, Salary
range, Participation, Privilege & status symbols
2. Uncertainty Avoidance, deals with a society's tolerance for ambiguity and
indicates to what extent a culture programs its members to feel either
uncomfortable or comfortable in unstructured situations.
Represented by : Necessity of rules, Time orientation, Precision &
punctuality, Appropriateness of emotional displays

Individualism versus Collectivism, related to the integration of individuals


into primary groups or is the degree to which people in a society are
integrated into groups.
Factors in work area: Employee-employer relationship, Hiring
promotion decisions, Managerial focus, Task vs. relationship priority

Masculinity versus Femininity, related to the division of emotional roles


between women and men or refers to the distribution of values between
the genders
Represented by: Centrality of work, Ways of managing & decision making,
Fem: equality, solidarity, quality of work life, Conflict resolution

Long Term versus Short Term Orientation, related to the choice of focus
for people's efforts: the future or the present and past.
Factors in wok area: Planning, Research and development, Training

Kluckhohn-Strodtbeck Framework
It compares cultures along six dimensions by asking the following questions:
Do people believe that their environment controls them, that they control the
environment, or that they are part of nature?
Do people focus on past events, on the present, or on the future implications of
their actions?
Are people easily controlled and not to be trusted, or can they be trusted to act
freely and responsibly?
Do people desire accomplishments in life, carefree lives, or spiritual and
contemplative lives?
Do people believe that individuals or groups are responsible for each persons
welfare?

Do people prefer to conduct most activities in private or in public?
