I create a website
that is specific for
our own
classroom. On the
website, I post a
quick review over
the math
operations we
discuss in class
each day so that
the students have
an updated
reference page to
refer to each day.
This website will
also be beneficial
to parents who do
not know how to
help the students
with the problems.

relevant
information and
ideas effective to
students parents,
and peers using a
variety of digitalage media and
formats
Understand
The website allows
the students to have a
better understanding
of what has been
discussed in class that
day, and gives them
an illustration and
visual reference to
refer to when they are
struggling with a
homework problem.

1. Oral Expression and

I create a Prezi
presentation for
my class about an
upcoming
assignment about
how to make an
ePortfolio about
themselves. The
homework for that
night is a 5
question online
quiz about the
main topics I
covered in my

I break my students
up into five
separate groups and
assign each student
a famous author to
research. The
students are then
asked to create an
ePortfolio for that
author. The students
will gain knowledge
of not only their
author, but also
about creating
websites and
portfolios.

personal or group
expression

The students are
given sole creative
control over their
project and learn how
to generate and
produce an original

group.
Social Studies
1. History
I ask my students to
pick a historical
figure whom they
admire most. The
students will
research the
individual and then
pretend to be a
publicist who is
creating a website
for their famous
figure. The student,
after creating the
website, will pull up
the website for the
class in order to
promote their
famous figure. The
students will also be
expected to create
a reference page

The students
demonstrate their
understanding of
proper citation along
with effective
research skills through
this assignment. They
also demonstrate their
ability to generate
their own personal
works and create
effective websites to
display information.
2. Geography
3. Economics
4. Civics
I ask my students
to jot down a list
of the five most
important rights
and duties they
have as citizens of
the United States.
I then take the
most popular five
and post them to
an ePortfolio that
has been created
for our class. The
students will then
be asked to check
the website and
write a short
paragraph about
why the top five
most important
things they voted
on should be
incorporated into
their everyday
lives.

The students are

selected are important
and valuable to them.

Reflection: The creation of my second matrix was a much easier and quicker process than the first matrix I created. While I still
referred back to my first matrix to refresh myself on the process, I felt as though I had a much stronger sense of confidence and
certainty about this second matrix. When I began creating my own ePortfolio, I never imagined that this is something I would
want to incorporate into my own classroom someday. However, now that I have created this matrix, I realized the potential for
greatness that rests in incorporating these personalized websites into my own classroom. I have become really fond of the idea of
creating a classroom website for my students because I believe this to be an extremely beneficial resource for my students and
my students parents.
