Instructions

The document provides instructions to build a P-reader, a study tool that holds papers, in 3 parts over 30 minutes using LEGO bricks. Part 1 involves constructing 2 mirrored assemblies with 1x8, 1x6, 2x4 and L-blocks. Part 2 attaches these to a central 2x6 with additional 1x2, 2x3 and 1x6 pieces. Part 3 builds a tower with 2x2 bricks that attaches to Part 2. Five diagrams depict the intermediate and finished products.

Introduction:
This instruction set is intended to guide you for building the p-reader, a handy
studying tool. It holds physical sheets of paper for you when youre studying, hence
p-reader. It is very helpful when you need to reference a formula sheet or a
reading when youre working, but dont have the free hands to hold it, and can help
mitigate time wasted trying to find papers. The construction itself is quite simple,
and should take less than 30 minutes.

Instructions:
Part 1
1. Set a 2 x 6 block down horizontally. All future instructions will be in
reference to this perspective.
2. Attach a 1 x 8 on top of the 2 x 6 horizontally, on the edge close to you.
There should be a studs worth of space hanging off of each side.
3. Attach a 2 x 4 under the left overhang, so that the 2 x 4 and 2 x 6 are next to
each other. The 2 x 4 should be facing you, vertically.
4. Attach a 1 x 2 next to the 1 x 8 vertically on the 2 x 4, so that the 1 x 2 and 1
x 8 form a 90 degree angle.
5. Attach an L block on top of the intersection between the 1 x 2 and 1 x 8, it
should fit perfectly.
6. Attach a 1 x 2 horizontally on top of the end of the 2 x 4 closest to you. The
assembly should look like figure 3.
Note: Up to this point, everything should look like figure 3.

7. Repeat steps 1-6, but mirror it so the 2 x 4 is attached on the right instead of
the left.

Part 2
1. Attach a 2 x 4 horizontally on top of a 2 x 6 block. There should be two free
vertical studs to each side of the 2 x 4.
2. Attach the two assemblies made in part 1 so that the 2 x 6 blocks are all
touching on the short sides. The 1 x 8 blocks should be attached to the 2 x 6
placed in step 1 by 1 stud, touching the 2 x 4 placed in step 1.
3. Attach a 1 x 2 block horizontally between the 2 x 4 and the 1 x 8s on top of
the 2 x 6, there should be visible seams in between.
4. Attach a pair of 2 x 3 blocks horizontally like you would a 2 x 6 on the central
2 x 4 block, immediately adjacent to the 1 x 2 blocks placed in step 3. It
should overhang off the back from your perspective.
5. Attach two 1 x 6 blocks stacked on each other horizontally immediately under
the overhang of the two 2 x 3 blocks placed in step 4.
6. Attach the remaining two L blocks on the seams between the two 2 x 3 and
two 1 x 2 blocks on the central 2 x 4 block. They should look like a bracket
facing away from you.
Note: Up to this point, everything should look like figure 4.

Figure 4: Finished Part 2

Part 3
1. Set a 2 x 4 down horizontally.
2. Attach two 1 x 4 blocks horizontally like you would a 2 x 4, on top of the 2 x 4
placed in step 1. There should be no overhang.
3. Attach a 2 x 2 in the middle of the two 1 x 4 blocks, there should be two
vertical studs free on each side of the two 1 x 4s.
4. Attach the rest of the 2 x 2s on top of the 2 x 2 placed in step 3 in a tower.
There should be 6 total in the tower.
5. Attach a 2 x 6 horizontally on top of the 2 x 2s, centered.
6. Attach a pair of 1 x 8s in a horizontal line on top of the 2 x 6 block, on the row
of studs away from you. There should be 1 x 4 overhang on each side.
7. Attach a 1 x 6 block across the seam of the 1 x 8s placed in step 6,
horizontally.
Note: Up to this point, everything should look like figure 5.

Figure 5: Finished Part 3

Finishing Construction:
Attach the tower constructed in part 3 by the 2 x 4 base to the two 2 x 3s in part 2.
There should be a perfect 2 x 4 space next to the L blocks. Compare to figure 1 and
2 to ensure that everything matches up to the finished product.
