Lab-2: Steady-State Analysis of A Single Phase Power System by Simpowersystems Blockset of Matlab

This document describes using SimPowerSystems in Matlab to perform a steady-state analysis of a single-phase power system. The objectives are to analyze the given system and calculate voltages and currents at different nodes and branches. The introduction provides background on SimPowerSystems. The procedure describes opening Matlab, using SimPowerSystems to model the circuit shown, and performing a steady-state analysis to record voltages and currents in a table. The document contains the circuit diagram, procedure, an example results table, and sections for observations and scoring.

LAB-2: Steady-State Analysis of a single phase powe

system by
SimPowersystems blockset of Matlab.
Roll #:_____081220158____Fehmy Malik

OBJECTIVES:

To analyse the given system using SimPowerSystems blockset of Matalb.

To calculate the voltages and currents at various nodes (buses) and element
(branches) of
given system.

INTRODUCTION:
SimPowerSystems is used to model power system and carry out various tedious
calculations pertaining power systems. It is a comprehensive tool box which can
perform various analysis for power system such as load flow, short-circuit current
calculations, steady- state analysis and transient stability analysis. In this
experiment we will use the steady-state analysis of the SimPower Systems to find
out the current and voltages in various parts of the Below-mentioned single phase
system (Single line diagram).

Yo
u are to calculate the voltages and currents at various nodes (buses) and elements
(branches) of this system using the SimPower Systems blockset of Matlab.

Procedure:
Open Matlab and enter the command powerlib at the command window, this will
open the library of the SimPower Systems blockset. Now to start the modeling of
the circuit, create a new model file from the file menu. Follow the same steps
described in Lab 1 to model the given system as shown below :

Open the POWER GUI by double-clicking on its icon. This will show various types of
analysis that are available to you to perform on the circuit. Click on the "SteadyState Voltages and Currents". This will open a new window in which all the steady
state voltages and currents will be given. Now write down all the voltages and
currents in the measured value column of table 1-1. Also calculate all voltages
and currents using per unit analysis and fill the table 1-1.
