Lab3 Ecology

This experiment examines the effects of quadrat size on sampling plant populations. Various sized quadrats (1x1, 2x2, 3x3) are used to take 50 random samples from a simulated plant community of a single density. The samples are analyzed to determine the relationship between two plant species, A and B, by recording their presence or absence in each quadrat. A chi-squared test is then used to determine if the dispersion patterns of species A and B are independent or associated within the community.

Experiment 3 Lab Title

:Effects size quadrat on group of plant.

Introduction
Size quadrat is important things to be consider on sampling. The size and shape of the plots
can affect sampling precision. Often, the optimal plot size and shape will depend on the
dispersion pattern of the population.
Apparatus
1. One community simulated. with size 25cm x 25 cm
2. Quadrat wire with size 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 or with alternative , 3 pieces plastic acetat with
size 25x 25 cm with mark 50 random quadrat with suitable size.
Procedures
1. One arrangement of community with one level density , represent the community.
2. 50 random sample from community prepared was chosen using wire quadrat .
