MASTER SERGEANT RICHARD S. JOHNSON


Master Sergeant Richard S. Johnson is the First Sergeant for the 9th Medical Group, Beale AFB, California,
which provides aerospace medicine, medical operations and medical support to a beneficiary population of 22.8
thousand beneficiaries as well as the sole physiology support for the U-2 program. He is the enlisted advisor to
the group commander and 4 squadron commanders on all issues regarding the health, morale, welfare,
discipline, and readiness of 370 assigned military and civilian personnel.
MSgt Johnson enlisted in the Air Force in 1999 as an F-15 avionics attack control systems technician. In 2007,
he was selected as a technical school instructor, where he also served as an instructor supervisor. Since
returning to the flightline in 2011 he has served as a specialist flightline expeditor, assistant section chief, and
assistant First Sergeant. In 2014, MSgt Johnson expanded his leadership role by becoming a first sergeant.
MSgt Johnson has deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM.
