Emerging Technology
Working in the field of education means constant learning. Learning new ways to further
childrens education. When it comes to furthering a childs education, technology does not come
far behind. As we prepare to become educators ourselves we need to understand that technology
is expanding. It has evolved so much that we need to know how it works and how to use it
appropriately. Technology is emerging into classrooms, and we need to meet it head on.

Technology has evolved into something extraordinary. It has impacted the teaching
process by becoming a great asset. Teachers have always relied on basic instruction in their
classroom. They worked hard making their lesson plans and activates. Basic instruction is
unsurpassed, there is nothing quite like having an instructor teach you a lesson followed by an
activity. Basic Instruction will always be good, but mixing lessons with technology is what really
helps expand students minds.

Technology has impacted the teaching process in making lesson planning much essay.
There is so many softwares that become such a great assistance to both teachers and students.
Softwares like Word Processer, Excel, and Presentation. Word allows teachers the create posters,
study guides, lesson plans, and work sheets. Excel is useful when making reports, grading books,
and managing attendance. Presentation provides a lesson that would include information text,
audio, and a visual. Students benefit from these software in the same way teachers do. They use
them for essays, presentation, and any other assignments that a teacher might present to them.
There are so many more technologies that are just beginning to emerge into classrooms.
Some of those technologies that are emerging into classroom settings are tablet computing, Wi-

Fi, electronic whiteboards, data projection units, and gamification. These technologies are
assisting teachers in their lessons and helping further students education. Some still a bit out of
reach but some are being used in class rooms.
Tablets competing works as an easier way to have a computer in hand without it being
a distraction to students. Tablets are portable, they can be carried from class to class says Sara
Briggs (2013). 10 emerging educational technologies and how they are being used across the
globe. Retrieved from http://www.opencolleges.edu.au/informed/features/the-ten-emergingtechnologies-in-education-and-how-they-are-being-used-across-the-globe/. Tablets can be used a
mini computers. They hold apps that are useful in class room setting. They provide all the
resources students need to succeed. Tablets lay flat on desks, so teachers wont have to worry
about any distractions. It gives instant feedback to the teacher. It cuts down on paper use, it also
saves time by making it possible to grade the students work more quickly states Duffy and
McDonald (2003).
Wi-Fi can be used to solve the problem of having to have the computers connected to
wires. Wi-Fi allows schools to be able to use their wireless technologies. With Wi-Fi students can
use internet resources anywhere in the building. Wi-Fi would be most important if there is going
to be any wireless devices in use.
Electronics whiteboards are similar to regular white or blackboard. The difference is that
an electronic whiteboard is not as limited. When using an electronic whiteboard teachers can
actually save the information they had just printed and keep it for later use. These are already
seen in classroom, most teachers are provided these in high school classrooms.

Data projection units are used to make any photograph, movie, or slide visible to
students. These are of course extremely important. Without these projection units how would you
be able to see a presentation or even enjoy a movie day.
Gamification or games are self-explanatory. These games are used as a learning system.
Instead of an ordinary lesson, student receive interactive games that allow children to gain
interest in there subject. For younger children it is a great way to get them involved in their
subjects. Most teachers fear that these games will disrupt them from real studies but as long as
they have equal measure of gamification instruction as well as basic instruction then I believe it
will be alright.
These technologies have been integrated into all kinds of different grade levels. They are
used to further childrens education. I benefits gifted and special needs students. Gifted students
gain access to higher resources, while special needs students get the help that they need to
succeed.
Technologies have already started to emerge in class room. Some teachers are hesitant to
learn how to use them. It is imperative that the understand technology and know exactly how to
use the software that only benefit them and their students if they use them.
