Methergine Drug Study

Methergine is a drug used to treat postpartum hemorrhage and uterine atony by directly acting on the uterus. It should not be used in patients with hypertension, toxemia, pregnancy, or nursing mothers. Adverse reactions can include hyper- or hypotension, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, and other symptoms. Precautions should be taken in patients with sepsis, obliterative vascular disorders, or hepatic or renal disease.
