This document provides a time analysis code for observing a 4th grade physical education class. The code divides class time into 15-second intervals that are coded as either M for management, A for activity, or I for instruction based on what the majority of students are doing during that interval. An example time analysis is provided that codes 112 total intervals over a 40 minute class, with 64 intervals of activity time totaling 975 seconds or 16 minutes, 24 intervals of instruction time totaling 360 seconds or 6 minutes, and 24 intervals of management time also totaling 360 seconds or 6 minutes.
