P - Numbers

To reduce the number of procedure qualifications required, base metals have been
assigned P nos. These assignments are based essentially on comparable base metal
characteristics, such as:
1. Composition
2. Weldability
3. Mechanical properties
Group No :
For ferrous base metals which have specified impact requirements, group nos. have
been assigned within P nos.
Various P nos of Base Metals :

It consist of all C-Mn / Si steel plates, seamless pipes, forgings, welded tubes etc.
