Adobe Visual Design Syllabus

(Recommended hours of instruction: 135 or 150)

Adobe Photoshop A raster graphic editor which uses tiny rectangular pixels or picture elements to present an image.
Illustrator A vector graphics editor that is used to create outline art.
InDesign An Adobe desktop publishing software used to create works such as posters, flyers and brochures, etc.
Students completing the program will be equipped with communication technology and digital media skills needed to succeed in
college and their careers.
Certification tests are available for Adobe Visual Communication (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign). which students are
eligible to become Adobe Certified Associates. Eastern Wayne High School is an official Certiport Testing Center.

Class Expectations:
1. Practice being a good citizen everyday! There should be no horseplay in the classroom, always be respectful of
everyone around you, and keep your work area and the classroom clean.
2. Always be prepared for class by being in your seat when the bell rings and have your pencils and notebook ready.
3. NEVER share your computer password with anyone. You are responsible for keeping your electronic files secure.
4. Absolutely NO food, drinks, candy, etc. allowed in the classroom.
**Equipment/Software Agreement:
Equipment is a necessary part of any business class. It is, therefore, very important that special care be taken in using the equipment.
Each student will be assigned to equipment and is responsible for reporting any problems with that piece of equipment to the teacher
immediately. For this reason the following guidelines will be strictly adhered to concerning students using equipment.

Students should check their equipment when they enter the class. Report any problems to the teacher. This includes
equipment that will not work, graffiti on the desk, etc.
Students should NOT attempt to repair equipment. You could also injure yourself or further damage the equipment.
Take good care of your equipment by not pounding the mouse, keyboard, etc.
Students will save their work on a class server. Absolutely NO flash drives are permitted unless approved by the teacher.

**Violations in Computer Usage Include:


1. Being on the Internet without teacher authorization (could result in losing Internet privileges for the semester)
2. Being on inappropriate websites (could result in losing Internet privileges for the semester)
2. Changing computer settings
3. Adding/Changing passwords
4. Changing screensavers or backgrounds
**As a student in Ms. Lesesnes class, it is your responsibility to uphold the expectations set forth by the EWHS Business
Department. Disciplinary action (i.e. parent conferences, choice room, principal referral) will be taken if these expectations are
not upheld.
