Exercise 4.2 Creating an Overview Display for Navigation

4.2.1 Description
Instantiate navigation buttons on graphics to allow navigation from one display to
another. Create an expression variable as a String to be used for the title on the graphic
display.
Use the Aspect View Mapper to insert an Alarm and Event List aspect into the
graphic.

4.2.2 Legend

Indicates dialog box buttons, tabs, menus etc.

Rename the Graphic Display aspect on the Sxx_Plant object to Sxx_Overview Display.

Edit the Sxx_Overview Display graphic display on the Sxx_Plant object, and add a title
at the top.

Define an expression variable of the type String and assign it the value PLANT
OVERVIEW STUDENT XX

Open the title and assign the Text property to the recently created variable, selecting it
from the expression variables list.

Center the text, selecting the option Center, and any other properties desired (e.g.,
TextColor and FillColor to Snow and DarkBlue, respectively).

Add an Aspect View button in order to navigate to the Sxx_ProcessDisplay. This


aspect link should open the Sxx_ProcessDisplay graphic created earlier. The graphic
should be opened in replace mode.

Insert the Alarm and Event List aspect from your Sxx_Plant object into this overview
display, using an Aspect View Wrapper.

System 800xA Training

Edit the Sxx_ProcessDisplay and add an Aspect View button in order to navigate to
the Sxx_Overview Display.

Save the graphic display and check the runtime.

Use the navigation buttons to navigate between the two displays, making sure that they
replace each other in the same window.
