Mademoiselle Alders Classroom Rules and Expectations

Dear parents and students of Mademoiselle Alders French 1 class,
Bienvenue! Welcome to what is sure to be a fun and exciting year of
French! I hope youre as anxious as I am to start learning this beautiful
language. In order to make this year as productive and enjoyable as
possible, I have outlined for you my expectations for the year. Stick to
this guide and we should all get along just fine. I look forward to
getting to know each of you!
Behavior
1. Students will respect one another, respect me, and respect
themselves.
2. Students will speak French as often as possible. Questions
directed at students are expected to be answered in French.
3. There will be no derogatory language used in my classroom, in
French, English, or any other language.
4. My classroom is and will remain a safe space where everyone is
free to express their ideas and opinions without fear of being
judged.
5. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated. If any student is
found to be harassing another student, they will be promptly
removed from my class and reported to the principal.
6. Je ne suis pas un dictionnaire! If you dont know how to say a
word in French, please look it up in one of the classroom
dictionaries provided. It takes away from valuable class time for
me to give you straight translations, and sometimes even I dont
have all the answers ;)
Materials
Students are expected to bring the following with them every day:
1. 3-ring binder. This should have notebook paper and dividers
labeled Notes, Handouts, Homework, and Quizzes/Tests.
2. Pencils or pens. I prefer pencils as there are usually a lot of
corrections to be made and it is less messy to erase and re-write
your work.

3. Textbooks. We will be using these every single day, so please

bring them every day unless specifically told otherwise.
4. A positive attitude!

Homework Policies
Homework will be assigned daily. Assignments will be written on the
board in class, as well as posted on my website,
francaisavecalder.weebly.com
No late work will be accepted. Students will have one opportunity per
semester to miss a homework assignment. Those students who do not
take advantage of this opportunity will be awarded 5 points of extra
credit.
Students who are absent will have the same number of days as their
absence to turn in make-up work. For example, if a student is absent
one day, s/he will have one day to make-up the assignment. If a
student is absent for two days, s/he will have two days to complete the
make-up work. If there are any questions about this policy feel free to
email me.
Absences and Tardies
Students are expected to arrive to class on time. Multiple tardies can
result in detention or Saturday school, as per the schools policies.
Unexcused absences will the dealt with in accordance to the schools
policies. A student whose absence is unexcused will not have the
opportunity to make-up any work missed.
