Learning Goal #1
Experience performing music through as many performance
opportunities as possible in a variety of contexts, including
parades, festivals, ceremonies and cultural celebrations.
Success Criteria

Knowledge of music varying types of music

A variety of repertoire suitable for different occasions


and events, both in school and in public forums

Coordination of solos, duets, trios and small in-class


ensembles ready to perform

Participation in extra-curricular opportunities in different


ensembles (steel-pan, drumline, band, choir etc...)
Learning Goal #2
Improve understanding of music through regular listening of
various types and genres of music. Gain greater knowledge of
what to listen for in music through ear-training and dictation of
rhythms, chords, pitch-intervals and melodies. Apply said
knowledge to students own performing abilities.
Success Criteria

Knowledge of the elements of music

Knowledge of rhythmic notation and counting practices

Ability to identify pitch intervals, both written and auditory

Ability to distinguish between major and minor triads


(chords) in basic root position
Learning Goal #3
Compose a piece of music through the creative process and
write it in draft-form on staff-paper with pencil. Use musical
notation technology to create a clean final draft and print it.
Perform compositions in front of peers.
