Micro-Manpower
Describes immediate situations
It has industrial boundaries
e.g. coal-mining

Macro-Manpower
Describes general situations
It has national boundaries
e.g. shipbuilding

Critical factor for a manpower planner is to have the analytical


ability to determine what is the critical changes in the manpower
environment which will affect the manpower plan.

Sources Of Changes
1. Technological Changes:
Changes in Power, Material, and Technical System. Which brings changes in terms of
occupation and skills.
2. Social Changes:
Changes in Population Trends, Education, and Social Mobility. It is of major
importance in manpower environment.
3.Economic Changes:
It involve a movement from more government involvement in the economy to less
government involvement, or from command economies to capitalist economies.
4. Political Changes:
Change in Foreign Policy, Industrial Legislation, and Monetary Policy.

conclusion
Manpower planner should be aware of the corporate strategy of
his /her company so as to analyze the likely effects of
environmental changes, so that the risks of massive errors of
prediction are reduced.
