Dipti created an action plan to complete a summative assessment on revolutions for her history class. She outlined the steps needed to create a website on the Russian Revolution, including researching the key events and causes, creating an outline and timeline, and building the website. Dipti developed a detailed research plan to find information on factors like the stages of revolution, effects on the Russian people and government, and events before and after 1917. She took notes on her findings, including a timeline of milestones and events from 1905 to 1917 that weakened the Tsar's power and led to his abdication during the February Revolution.

Things that were wrong with Russia before the

revolution

History websites eg. bbc bitesize, history.com

This will give me an idea of the causes for a

revolution. Or why people wanted a revolution.

Major events in the revolution

From summary of the Russian revolution

provided from phis/Ms.Du Puys email

We can use this to understand the revolution

but also to find a theory of the stages of
revolution and see if it fits with the Russian
revolution.

Dates of the major events in chronological

A website with a timeline of the events, or the

attachments on phis

With the major events in chronological order will

allow me to make a timeline.

Different stages of a revolution (multiple

sources)

Theories of revolution stages, attachments on

phis, french revolution documentary task sheetemailed to me by Ms.Du Puy

We will need to find the different stages and we

need multiple to see which one we think fits the
Russian revolution best. We can use the major
events we found before to figure out when the
stages were.

What I need to find

Where I will find this

Why do I need this?/How will it help me.

Effects during the revolution what changed and

what changed in the end

Websites about events prior to 1917 and

websites about events after the revolution.

The effects will allow us to fully understand

what the revolution was brining upon Russia.
But also to see if the revolution brought upon
the changes the Russians wanted in the first
place.

Who was in charge after the revolution (why are

they different/are they?)

History websites eg. bbc bitesize, history.com

To find out who was in charge will let us

understand who might have lead the revolution
and further research on the person who is
leading now will also demonstrate what
changed.

When did the revolution settle?

Websites about events after the revolution.

This will give us an idea of how long the

revolution took and if all the time and death
was worth the change.

Was it the end, was there another revolution?

History websites eg. bbc bitesize, history.com,

and websites with information not about the
revolution but about the aftermath.

If there was another revolution it would show us

that the revolution we are researching was not
successful and the people were not happy.

Who was in charge of the revolution?

History websites eg. bbc bitesize, history.com

To better understand who lead the revolution. If

I know the leader I can perhaps understand
where the revolution truly started.

How did the revolution effect the people of

Russia?

History websites eg. bbc bitesize, history.com

If there was a great change amongst the

people I can deem the revolution successful in
a way. By looking at the effects on the people I
can understand wether they got what they
wanted.

How did the revolution effect Russias

government?

History websites eg. bbc bitesize, history.com,

and websites with information not about the
revolution but about the aftermath.

By understanding the change in government, I

can understand how Russia was ruled after the
revolution and also if the revolution did what it
was there for, political re-form.

General Research Question:

When, how and why did the Russian revolution occur, and what eect did it leave on the
people and government of Russia?
Research Plan: UPMOST PRIORITY medium priority low priority
Questions to think about during research:

Do you think the revolution was worth it

Should they have done anything different
What exactly changed
Was it the masses in charge of the revolution or one person

Step

Evaluation:

What went well

Improvement

- Create outline of website/- Identify what we

will split and what we will do together

We didnt have any trouble with who would do what,

since we both had a good idea of what we wanted
to do.

I think that we could have added more onto the

outline or been more specific about the information
on each page so that we were clear on what should
go onto each page

- Research the Russian revolution

It wasnt hard to find information because there

were loads of resources on phis.

I think that I could have watched more

documentaries to get a clear idea of the order of the
events because that was a little blurry for me.

- Summarize research

I found it easy to summarize my information

because there was loads of it.

I dont think I needed this step because I already

knew all my research.

- Type out the exact words for the website

It was easy to write this because I had loads of

research notes to draw from.

We could have done this step together to make

sure we didnt repeat information.

- Create weebly

It was easy to create the website because it had

loads of resources.

I think we could have adjusted our build more to

make it more appealing.

- Copy and paste all the words from action

plan to weebly

It was very simple and because we did this instead

of typing straight onto the website it made it easy to
structure the website.

I think that we could have made it better looking

instead of copy and pasting.

- Double check the website/customize it

It was easy to check since the website was simple.

We should have done this together so we both like

the end product.

Research notes:

- Nicholas had no option, his military had no faith or trust in him
- Military did not want to go to Japan

- This is what Nicholas said exactly that wouldnt happen
- This can be seen as his first cave or first mistake in correlation with the revolution
- After the Duma was created the opposing side to Nicholas was split into different
strands
- The St. Petersburg church made an attack to an opposing govt. this lead to
Nicholas to back into the same corner
- Military or political reform
- He took political reform again

Effect (on people, positive and negative)

The effects of the people onto the govt.

People were treated badly, especially workers and soldiers. With Russia's low resources
and high demand, and luxurious lifestyle of the upper class. People felt poor and
abandoned by their rulers
After the first large protest, Bloody Sunday, the people of Russia felt that Nicholas Tsar
was not seeking for their better rather only for his and the upper classs. Because
Nicholas Tsar II didnt do anything they demanded. In return of the crowds large efforts,
Nicholas's army shot at the crowd and killed an unknown number of people, estimated in
the thousands.
After Bloody Sunday the people of Russia began to loose their trust in Tsar. This is when
Tsar's actions truly started to effect the people and leave a long lasting impact on their
opinions of him.
People constantly lost trust in Tsar. The people trapped Tsar into a corner. Where he had
too choices, to either go against the peoples rebellions or to re-form the govt. Knowing
that going against the rebellions will be costly and harmful to him he former the october
manifest, which included forming the Duma. The Duma is a clear example of the effects
of the people on Tsar.
After Tsars many failed attempts, Battle of Tannenburg and the battle of the Masurian
Lakes. The people lost most of their trust in Tsar. So the women on women's day had a
protest. They were angry because of their poor working conditions and the scarce food
supply. Most of the womens husbands were fighting in the current war which left the
women to have to provide food for the family. After the riots during women's day and the
protests following where over 150,000 men and women came, Nicholas Tsar abdicated.
So once again the people effected Nicholas. Till now Nicholas Tsar has been effecting the
people and because of his negative effects the people revolted resulting in him being
effected in the end.
After march 1st the people had a provisional govt. filled with the former Duma members.
They were the new and temporary rulers of Russia. But not for long. After the Dumas

govt. re-form, they abolished private land ownership. So when the soldiers from the army
came back they didnt have any jobs or food. They didnt have jobs because the war was
over, hence there was less demand so the factories didnt have many orders. They didnt
have food because the farms weren't private anymore so they only produced enough for
themselves, and had no intention of producing more.
So in the end the people were left in the back hand of the govt. Just like they were when
Tsar was ruling. So either ways the peoples lives were starved. They didnt have many
jobs and or a constant source for food. So in the end the effects of the people against the
govt. led them back to where they started.
Effects of the govt. on the people of Russia
The people of Russia started out deprived of food and supplies because
