Introduction
The Internet is the latest and in many respects most
powerful in a line of mediatelegraph, telephone, radio,
televisionthat for many people have progressively
eliminated time and space as obstacles to communication
during the last century and a half. It has enormous
consequences for individuals, nations, and the world.

SOME AREAS OF CONCERN

One of the most important of these involves what today is

called the digital dividea form of discrimination dividing
the rich from the poor, both within and among nations, on
the basis of access, or lack of access, to the new information
technology. In this sense it is an updated version of an older
gap between the information rich' and information poor'.

INCORPORATING CYBER ETHICS

IN CULTURE
Suggestions for incorporating cyber ethics into the classroom
culture:
Draw parallels between the real world and the electronic
world.
Involve students in constructive activities. Ask them to
develop ten rules for a classroom acceptable use policy, for
example.
Post a written acceptable use policy in your classroom, and
include the consequences for violating it.

BAN THE INTERNET?

Kids are more actively involved in research through
project-based activities, teachers are more active, and
students are less bored. Intelligent use of technology
gives kids groundwork and framework -- and
provides the opportunity to reinforce the value of
ethical behavior in all areas of their lives.

Conclusion
The internet is a time-efficient tool for everyone that
enlarges the possibilities for curriculum growth.
Learning depends on the ability to find relevant and
reliable information quickly and easily, and to select,
understand and assess that information. Searching for
information on the internet can help to develop these
skills.
