Section 1: Client Overview

Team Avengers will be working with the BASE Camp Childrens Cancer Foundation along with the
president and program director, Teri Jones and Cindy Whitaker, as the project contact coordinators for
the organization. BASE Camp has been assisting Central Florida cancer patients and families since
1982.
According to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, there are ten major childhood cancers. Out of the
twelve types, leukemia and cancers of the brain and central nervous systems are the most common in
pediatric practice. Every year in the United States, about 13,500 children are diagnosed with cancer.
BASE Camp Childrens Cancer Foundation focuses its services for children and their families. Their
mission strives to give children and families support year-around and provide services to help make
the childrens journey comforting with rest, nourishment, encouragement, and strength.
BASE Camp offer several services for the children and their families who are battling cancer. Every
weekday the coordinators of BASE Camp provide hot meals to three local hospitals and outpatients
clinics. They also host monthly food drives that provide about 50 baskets of nonperishable food items
to pediatric cancer patients families. Additionally, a Parent Support Group is held monthly in
numerous locations such as hospitals, local restaurants, and clinics. The group is part of the American
Childhood Cancer Organization
They provide a Second Wish service to patients who have been diagnosed with cancer for a second
time. Lastly, the BASE Camp overnight camp occurs one night a month. The camp allows children to
interact with other kids who are going through the same situation. This networking activity helps the
children encourage and strengthen other patients to keep on fighting the battle.
Section 2: Proposed Solution
Team Avengers will raise $1,000 in cash and in-kind donations by June 25th, 2014 to help BASE
Camp host "Dinner and a Movie" at Arnold Palmer Hospital.
The pediatric cancer patients will benefit from the project in the future by receiving a DVD that will
bring them comfort while spending time with their families, to help keep their mind busy from their
treatments. They will also receive a hot meal that is different from the consistent everyday meal that
they receive from the hospital. The Dinner and a Movie will bring the children joy and nourishment
which will benefit the outcome of their health.
BASE Camp will be impacted and sustained in the future by gaining an awareness to the organization
as we come into contact with several business who are willing to lend a helping hand to children with
cancer. The money we raise will help BASE Camp to sustain their daily operations and to help provide
future services.

and beneficial towards our future careers. We will learn how to work as a team and also manage a team by
delegating tasks.
