Abstract

The document discusses new energy efficient light bulbs that use 25-80% less energy and last 3-25 times longer than traditional incandescents. These include halogen incandescents, CFLs, and LEDs. While initially more expensive, they save money over the bulb's lifetime due to lower operating costs. A new solid state incandescent light emitting device called an SSI LED was also developed, which works on the same principle as traditional incandescents by heating a filament until it glows but has a lifetime of over 7,000 hours under continuous operation.

ABSTRACT

The microscopic light bulb is an upgraded version of todays light

emitting devices. Compared to traditional incandescents, energy-efficient light
bulbs such as halogen incandescents, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), and
light emitting diodes (LEDs) have the advantages that typically use about 25%80% less energy than traditional incandescents, saving you money and can last
3-25 times longer. Today's energy-efficient bulbs are available in the wide range
of colors and light levels. While the initial price of energy-efficient bulbs is
typically higher than traditional incandescents, newer bulbs cost less to operate,
saves money over the life of the bulb. Many of the newer bulbs last significantly
longer than traditional bulbs, so there is no need to replace them as often. A
new device called Solid State Incandescent Light Emitting Device was also
developed in LED series, which works on the same basic principal of that of
conventional incandescent light bulb. SSI LED emits lights by heating up the
filament so much that they glow. The life time of devices are more than
7000hours under continuous operation. The devices function differently in
various temperature conditions, which are experimentally tested .
