Professional Growth

This educational leader has two professional growth goals: 1) To get more comfortable making decisions based on what is best for students rather than worrying about others' opinions, and take on more leadership roles. This relates to ISSL standard 1 on shared vision. Progress will be tracked through a mid-year self-assessment and log of new roles. 2) To develop independence and ability to provide leadership to others without relying on others for help or feeling threatened by dissenting opinions. This relates to ISSL standard 2 on culture of learning. Progress will be measured through monthly self-checks on assertiveness goals set at the start of the year. Mentors and advisors will provide support and feedback.

I need to work on my
concern of approval. This
works well with ISSL #1
(Shared Vision)

Take on new and

uncomfortable roles.
Dont be afraid to
assert myself if there
is something that I
dont want to do.
Dont wait for
permission to speak.

I would like to get more comfortable

doing things because I know they are
right for children instead of worrying
about what other might think. I also
want to push myself to take on more
leadership roles this coming school
year in areas that I have previously
avoided.

Revisit the LSI half

way through the school
year. Keep a log of
new roles accomplished
throughout the year.

I need to find ways around a

potential stumbling block in
the area of dependence.
This correlates with ISSL #2
(Culture of Learning)

I need to be able to
provide leadership to
others in my building.
I need to make
decisions without
always looking for
others help. I need to
stand up for my
beliefs and not feel
threatened by the
opinions of others.

I would like to work on becoming

more assertive when working with
others. I need to rely and trust in my
ability and not look to others to bail
me out. I need to be strong enough to
say no when it needs to be said.

I will write a few goals

for myself in the
beginning of the school
years and make
monthly checks to see
how I am progressing.
I will begin by making
them small and
manageable and
continue to build on
them as the schools
year progresses.
