March News!
Field Trip to Sanborn
Park
We do have our first field trip on March 12
to Sanborn Park. Students have been
learning about the Ohlone and other Bay
Area tribes in class. They will be able to do
different activities on our field trip to help
them learn even more about the Ohlone
Native Americans. Students will need to
arrive to school on time because we are
leaving right away. They will also need to
pack a lunch on this day since we will be
eating at Sanborn Park. Please let me know
if you have any questions or concerns.

Biography Reports
Students have been working very hard in class to
complete their Keynote presentation to go along with
their Biography Reports. Presentations will be taking
place within the next few weeks. I small slip of paper
went home on Thursday, February 26 stating the date
and time of your childs presentation. You are more
than welcome to come and watch your childs
presentation if you are able to make it. Please let me
know if there is a better time to come and watch. The
students will need to have a costume or prop that
represents their important person. This might be
something made from paper, or something you might
have had around the house. It does need to be a
school appropriate item.

In the Upcoming Weeks

Math: We have finished our unit on multiplication and
area, and we are now moving on to fractions. Students
will be looking at partitioning 1 whole into fractional
units, putting a fraction on a number line, and
comparing fractions. Students seem to be enjoying our
unit so far.

Some Reminders
This is just a reminder that students will
receive one list of words for the entire month.
Each week they will have a different style of
homework for that list, which will focus on a
different idea, such as meaning, spelling, or
affixes. On the last day of the month, students
will have a test on that list of words that
focuses on each idea listed above. If you have
any questions please let me know.
Students are also encouraged to write on their
blog at home. They can write about their
weekend, a vacation, or something they may
have researched or learned. I do look for a
blogger of the month to display in the
classroom.

English Language Arts: We will be finishing our unit

on frogs within the next week and starting a unit on
wolves and folktales. We have also finished our
informative writing and will be moving on to opinion
writing. The informative writing scores were on the
first page of the report cards under the winter
performance task scores. Please let me know if you
have any questions. In addition, our next artist of the
month is Michelangelo.
