--------------------PRE-INSTALLATION OF DRIVERS
--------------------------With Windows 2000 or later it is advisabile to make an automatic
pre-installation of the USB drivers before attaching the USB adapter
to the computer. To perform this pre-installation, simply press the
"Install USB drivers" button on the CD menu panel. This menu should
pop-up automatically when the CD is inserted; if not, run
"hi929828start.exe".
After installation, connect the USB adapter to the computer.
See also the "USB COM PORT INDEX" section below.
ALTERNATE DRIVER INSTALLATION METHOD
-----------------------------------Only in case of problems with the automatic pre-installation of drivers,
perform installation as follows (for Windows XP; other operating systems
have different but quite similar procedures):
1) connect the USB adapter to an USB port on your PC;
2) the "Found new hardware wizard" window will appear;
3) insert the software CD-ROM;
4) choose the "Install from a specific location (Advanced)" option, then
click "Next";
5) select "Search the best drivers in this location";
6) select "Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM...)" and unselect
"Include this location in the search:", then click "Next";
7) "USB serial converter" driver will be automatically installed;
9) the "Found new hardware wizard" window will appear again;
8) repeat steps 4 through 6 for installing the "USB serial port" driver.
USB COM PORT INDEX
-----------------To work with USB, find out the settings window on your Hanna applicaton
software, "Communication" and "COM port". Set the port number there.
To know the port number, follow these instructions:
1) connect the USB adapter to an USB port on your PC;
2) press "Start" and then "Control panel", "System", "Hardware", "Device
manager" and "Ports".
3) there will be a row "USB Serial Port (COM...)" where the COM port
index can be read.
You can as well use the COM port auto-detect function by means of the
corresponding button "Detect Selected Instrument".
