-Go over notes from day

before and pass out
models.
- Ask students how we
could find the surface area
of our objects without
using the surface area
formula.
- Have students calculate
the area of each side of
their models and add each
side them together.
-Their work will be used
as exit tickets.
-As homework, students
will find the Surface Area
of their models with the
surface area formula.

- Go over what we did the

day before
-Ask students what they
found out about the
activity they did in class in
order to find the surface
area and their homework
-Students will then
understand that the surface
area of an object is the area
of the exposed surface.
- I will then give each
group a prompt asking
them to find the
dimensions and object
shape with _____ Surface
Area.
-Each group will present
their model and
dimensions at the end of
class

O N E

Notes Students will work together in the same groups throughout the three weeks
- Teacher will break class
into groups of 4-5 students
-Students will then watch
the lessons Anchor Video
-Introduce entry document.
-From the entry document,
and as a class, we will
complete the knows/need
to knows chart
-Driving questions
-Write down a short
summary of what we went
over today as exit ticket

-Go over knows/ need to

knows
-Start lesson on Surface
area
-Bring nets of different
shapes to class and give
each group 5 different
models
-Have students measure
the dimensions of each
surface before building it.
-By the end of class each
group should have their
models complete
- Models will be used as
student exit tickets

-Go over what was done

the day before.
-Students will take out
their models from the day
before and each group
member will sketch each
model in their notes
-Once done, students will
measure the sides of each
of their model and record
these dimensions
- I will then ask the
students what is surface
area and how could we
find it?
- Students will then be
given notes on total
surface area so they can go
over what surface area is
and how it can be found.

-Go over knows/need to

know chart
-Students should have more
knows than last week
-Introduce lateral surface
area and how its different
from total surface area
- Have students find the
lateral surface area of each of
their models by the end of
class using the formula

-Go over key points since

last week and have
students write these down
-Short assessment(test)
over surface area, total and
lateral
-Give groups Project
Time to brainstorm ideas
for their presentation

-Start lesson on Volume

- Think, Pair, Share
activity in order for them
to answer what they
believe volume is
- Ask students if there is a
standard formula for all
shapes, or if each shape
has a different formula
-Handout notes describing
what volume is and the
different formulas for
different shapes
- Students will write down
on their notes the answers
to the questions asked and
other new information and
they will be used as their
exit tickets

- Volume activity
- Teacher will bring
containers of different
shapes to class (sphere,
cylinder, cube, prism, and
pyramid) and ask groups
to find the volume of each.
-Students will need to
identify the shape theyre
working with and the
proper formula they need
to use for that shape
-Each group member will
write down their work on
their own notes

-We will go over what we

did the day before
- Using the measurements
from yesterdays lesson,
students will manipulate
the dimensions of the
objects and observe how
volume is affected
- Students will record their
old and new calculations
and do a short write-up of
what they learned
-Project Time to discuss
further ideas
