Health and Safety is a key aspect to

validate during the making of our
opening sequence. The welfare of
each member and actor should be
closely looked at, we will do this by
making sure equipment is carefully
handled and all hazards are identified
and solutions are found for it.

Solution

Using the computer for a

long period of time to edit the
opening sequence.

Looking at the computer

screen for a long period of
time can cause strain to
eyes.

Take breaks regularly to rest

your eyes and avoid working
in the dark.

Carrying equipment.

Equipment could drop and

injure the holder.

All members of the group

should know how to hold
every piece of equipment
properly.

Eating and drinking whilst

using electrical equipment.
E.g: Cameras, TV, lights etc.

Water can fall over electrical

equipment and could
damage the equipment.

Eating and drinking should

not be allowed when working
with electrical equipment.

Not putting away equipment

properly.

This could lead to tripping or

falling over equipment

Make sure all equipment is

put away properly and
double check.

Damaged equipment could
be hazardous to health

e.g. damaged wires could

harm/electrocute you

Using matches

The use of candles and

handling fire could potentially
cause fires in the location if
an accident were to take
place (e.g. the lit candle
could fall off the table and
onto the carpet which is
flammable. Also other
furniture (like sofas) are also
flammable.

Keep an eye out for

damaged equipment and
replace them as soon as
possible.
Ensure that when handling lit
candles, they are placed on
a flat stable surface to
maintain balance

How can risk be managed

and who is responsible?
I will place the camera and
tripod firmly on the ground to
prevent any damage.
To avoid people tripping over
any wires whilst filming, I will
make sure I make everyone
aware of them and remove
them where necessary, For
example, behind the
television there is a potential
risk of tripping over wires, I
will ensure they are tucked
away.
To film high-angled shots
you might need to stand on
other objects (e.g. chairs), to
avoid falling over we will ask
a group member to hold the
object in place whilst they
stand on it.
The equipment used for
filming could get damaged by
the rain, to avoid this I can
make sure I check the
weather before we go out
and start filming.
