An Is Like A Fraction Whose Umerator Is What He Is and Whose Enominator Is What He Think of Himself

This document provides information about circles including their key elements such as radius, diameter, chord, arc, and circumference. It defines each element, shows examples, and provides the relationship between radius and diameter. The last sections provide worksheet questions to test understanding and suggest hands-on activities to help learn about circles through folding and projects.

MATHS

PRESENTATION
ON CIRCLES

Look at us! We all are

plane figure formed with
the help of line segments

Look at me ! I am not
a plane figure. I
am not made with
line segments

Look at the picture given below. They all

represent circles in one form or the other .

Elements of circle
SEMI
CIRCLE

Each half of
circle is called
semi circle

QUARTER

Fold the semi circle to get one

fourth of the circle . This
represent the QUARTER of a
circle.

RADIUS OF CIRCLE

RADIUS is a line segment joining the center

of a circle to any point on the circle

CIRCLE can have many radii .

All the RADII of a circle are of
equal length.

DIAMETER of a circle

DIAMETER is a line segment whose end

points lie on the circle and which passes
through the center of the circle.

Relation between RADIUS and DIAMETER

RADIUS = X
DIAMETER

DIAMETER = 2 X RADIUS

CHORD of a circle
We can draw many
CHORDS of a circle.
All CHORDS are not of
equal length.
CHORDS may or may not
pass through the center of
the circle. A CHORD is a line
segment whose end points
lie on the circle.
DIAMETER is the longest
CHORD of the circle.

ARC OF A CIRCLE

ARC is a part of a circle.

ACB is a arc of a cirle. We name an ARC using 3
points . Two end points and one point between
them.

CIRCUMFERENCE OF A CIRCLE

Perimeter of a circle is called the

CIRCUMFERENCE of a circle.

Parts of circle

Radius of a circle
Diameter of a circle
Chord of a circle
Arc of a circle
Semi circle
Quarter circle
Circumference of a circle

arc XYZ
Que4. Find the diameter of a circle whose radius is given below:
(a) 4cm (b) 3.1cm (c) 4.6cm
Que4. Diameter of some circle is given below. Find radius .
(a) 8cm (b) 6.4cm (c) 11.4cm
Que5. Observe the given circle and answer the following question
(a) Radius
(b) Diameter
(c) Chord

ACTIVITY
1.Paper folding activity:
representing all parts of circle.
2. Project will be prepared
showing all parts of circle.
