Mid-Year CogAT Testing

The midyear administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAt) for Sunrise Drive School will take place on January 7th, 12th, and 14th, 2015 for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who are new to the school or have not been tested in the past two years. The CogAt is used to identify students for gifted services and is required for those wishing to be considered for Interdisciplinary Studies. Parents must complete a permission to test form by January 6th if they want their child to be tested, which involves three morning sessions before school starting at 7:15 AM in the IDS room.

Midyear

Administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test



In accordance with state requirements, the Cognitive Abilities Test
(CogAt) is offered at different times during the year. The midyear
administration of the CogAt for Sunrise Drive School will be on
Wednesday, January 7, Monday, January 12, and Wednesday,
January 14, 2015. Parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students who are
new to the school or HAVE NOT been tested in the past two years are
eligible to test at this time. Students who are currently receiving gifted
services do not retest.

The CogAt is used to identify students for gifted services and is required
for students who wish to be considered for Interdisciplinary Studies
(IDS). Parents who wish to have their students tested must complete a
Permission to Test form. This form to request testing must be
turned in by January 6th, 2015. The permission to test form is
available to you by email with the gifted specialist
([email protected]).

The testing, which is done before school at 7:15 in the IDS room, takes
3 sessions to complete. Students must be present for all three days.

It is recommended that parents consult with the classroom teacher
and/or gifted specialist before requesting testing.
