HW-5 Volumetric Reservoirs: Problem 1

This document contains two problems related to calculating volumetric properties of oil and gas reservoirs. Problem 1 involves calculating the reservoir volume, average pressure, original gas in place, and recovery factors for a multi-layer gas reservoir using trapezoidal and pyramidal integration rules. Problem 2 involves calculating the original oil in place, original gas in place, original solution gas in place, recovery factor, and ultimate reserve for an oil reservoir with a gas cap drive mechanism.

difference you get using the two different integration rules?
2. Pleasecalculatetheareaaveragedandvolumeaveragepressureofthereservoir

volume
4. If the gas formation volume factor at the average initial pressure is 0.00453 cu ft/SCF,
what is the original gas in place in units of SCF?
5. Calculate the recovery factor after producing 1 MMM SCF
6. Calculate recovery factor at abundant pressure of 500 psia with Bga=2.89 RB/MSCF and
Bgi =1.15 RB/MSCF
7. Considering a water influx into the reservoir with 60% volumetric sweep efficiency,
calculate the recovery factor at 700 psia as an abundant pressure with formation volume
factor of Bga =2.5 RB/MSCF and Sgr=0.15.

Problem 2:

Given the following data for saturated oil reservoir:
Hydrocarbon Area =25,000 Acres
Net productive thickness=50 ft with the gas/oil 10 ft from the top
Porosity =20%
Average Swi =30%
Initial reservoir pressure =3000 psia
Boi =1.68 resbbl/STB
Rsoi =700 scf/STB

1- Calculate OOIP
2- Calculate original gas in place
3- Calculate the original solution gas in place
4- What are the recovery factor and the remaining reserve when 5 MMSTB of oil has been
produced at 2500 psia?
5- Given the ultimate recovery factor for such Gas cap drive mechanism in a similar
reservoir estimated to be 30%, calculate the ultimate oil reserve for the given the
reservoir
