Objectives
SWBAT: verify their list of Congressional leadership against the teacher's list.
SWBAT: identify the leaders of the 113th US Congress.
SWBAT: infer the answers on the lawmaking process using the anticipation guide.
SWBAT: verify their answers in groups/independently against the powerpoint
presentation.
Materials/Resources
Students will need to bring in their completed guided notes, which was homework.
Students will need to bring in their own red pen for grading their guided readings.

Instructional Procedures
Upon entry, students are to get out their guided reading (which was assigned on Friday
and is due today) along with a red pen. 5-10 minutes
Teacher will take attendance upon student arrival
Teacher will quickly check the guided reading of each student, to make sure it is
done.
Teacher will then project the guided reading answer key (using the iPad/
AppleTV) and go over - in depth - the answers with the students.
The students are to then correct each of their incorrect answers in red pen.
When the explanation of answers is finished, have the students put away the red
pen and the guided reading.
Teacher will pass out the anticipation guide to the students while they are putting their
items away.

Teacher will then explain how the anticipation guide works - briefly.
Read each statement without using any materials and answer True T or False
O next to each statement.
Then, with a partner, go through the powerpoint slide-by-slide, to determine if you
were correct.
Be sure to put the slide number, whether the statement is correct or
incorrect.
If the statement is false, correct the statement and put the slide number where
the information was found.
Students will have the rest of the class to work on this 25-30 minutes.
If the students do not finish, it is for homework.
Due tomorrow, go over correct answers tomorrow as well.

Guided questioning when going over the guided reading.
Thumbs up or down for understanding, randomly.
Guided questioning while the students are completing the anticipation guide.
