Your used or core lead-acid batteries will be picked up and recycled as part of your regular battery route service.
Your battery distributor will pick up the cores and send them back to the manufacturer where they will be delivered
to an EPA-approved smelter.
To ensure that as many batteries as possible are recycled, the following
core exchange program with the distributor will be required:
1. A core battery must be exchanged for every new
battery delivered.
2. A $5 fee will be assessed for each new battery
delivered in which a core was not exchanged.
3. Your battery distributor will reimburse you directly
the current market value for additional cores.

BATTERIES
Nearly 1/3 of the vehicles you service could need a new battery.
A national study shows that 29% of all vehicle owners will purchase a new battery annually.
The following conditions adversely affect battery performance:
Heat Accelerates corrosion in the battery, which leads to reduced performance and ultimate battery failure.
Batteries used in warmer climates have the shortest
life expectancy according to industry testing.
Extreme ColdRetards the chemical reaction that creates the cranking power in a battery while
also increasing the current required to start a vehicle.
Constant Cranking With Little Driving ActivityDrains battery power without giving the vehicles charging
system a chance to recharge the battery.

FEATURES: What is it? ADVANTAGE: What does it do? CUSTOMER: BENEFIT
1. Pollen Type Designed to capture fine dust particles,
including pollen and other airborne
allergens.
Reduces allergic reactions and provides
cleaner air inside the vehicle.
2. Electrostatic Type Media contains electrical charge to
capture smaller lung-damaging particles
such as tire dust and asbestos in
addition to pollen and other airborne
allergens.
Higher filtration efficiency to capture a
higher percentage of fine particles that
may cause harmful health effects.
Reduces allergic reactions.
3. Minimal Airflow
Restriction
GT CAFs are designed to maintain proper
airflow over the life of the filter which
places less strain on the HVAC system.
Some non-Genuine Toyota Filters with high
airflow restriction can cause decreased
heating and air-conditioning performance.
4. Media does not shed Genuine Toyota Cabin Air Filters use
high-quality media that won't release
fibers into the passenger compartment.
Some non-Genuine Toyota filters may use
lesser quality media that doesn't resist
shedding.
5. Media-resistant to
extreme temperatures
and high humidity
Designed to withstand extreme
temperatures and moisture.
Ensures airflowwon't be restricted and
filter will continue to perform under
extreme conditions.

Genuine Toyota Spark Plugs:
All resistor plugs with single ground electrodes feature a patented
U-groove design, resulting in a hotter spark.
All platinum-tipped plugs are designed to last up to 60,000 miles before replacement.
For newer Toyota vehicles with distributorless ignition systems (DIS), replace your original
spark plugs with the same dual ground electrode platinum-tipped plugs that came standard with
the vehicle single ground electrode plugs offered by competitors will only last one-half as long.
Tip: Be sure to check to see if there are platinum or iridium spark plugs available for your vehicle.
Iridium spark plugs can last up to 120,000 miles!
To ensure the most trouble-free operation of your Toyota, please check your vehicles Scheduled
Maintenance Guide or consult your Toyota dealer for proper spark plug change intervals.

Question Were you asked to make an appointmentfor Express Lube?
"Yes"answerisincorrect. No appointmentshouldbe requiredfor Express Lube.
Possible Causes
o ASMs and/orothersare encouragingappointmentswhentakingcustomerphonecalls.
o Thedealershiprequiresappointmentsfor allservices, even Express Lube oil changes.
o Thedealershiptries to limitthe"no appointment"policyto certain "non-busy" times.oftheday.
Itis withinthe ASM's "comfortzone" to take appointments to scheduleworkin the shop. However, sinceaftermarket
quickserviceshops do not require appointments, manycustomers have becomeconditionedto simply drivein
wheneverit's convenient. When a dealership requires a customerto make an appointmentfor Express Lube service,
the customer may conclude that his business isvaluable only whenit isconvenientfor thedealership, notnecessarily
whenit's convenientforhim or her.
Possible Remedies
Communicatetheimportanceofthe"no appointment"policyregularly
Have ASMs phone-shop the competi tion and/or take theirown vehicles to a nearby quick ser vice location
and have the oilchanged.
Review the Express Lube video, M/ N00450-ELO04, for tips on how to promote the "no appointment" policy
to customers.
For concernswithincreasedtrafficduringthefringe hours,checkstaffinglevels
Prepare lot porters to write lip Express Lube customers early in the morn ing and late in the evening.
Conside rcross-training techn icians and ASMs to suppor t the dedicated personnel during .peak times.

The OnePricestrategycommunicates thevalueoftheserviceand helpscustomersdevelopasenseof"trust" in
all elementsoftheExpress Lube program. The customers'beliefinthedealershipasa placeto do businesswill
be reinforced each time they leave the dealership having paid exactly the advertised price. The real profits to the
dealership from Express Lube don'tcome fromoilchanges alone, and aren't goingto be realized intheshortterm.
Repeat businessand customer loyalty builtup over time are the long-term dividends that theprogramdelivers.
Possible Remedies
Verify thedealership's ExpressLubese rvice is operat ingat aprofitby referringto theReturnon

Make sure accurate Toyota Daily Order discounts are applied to oil filter acquisition costs

Qllm;on Timequotedfor lengthofoil change.
Anythingexceeding30 minutesor "aboutahalf hour" is incorrect;
Express Lube ser vice isguaranteed at 29 minutesorless.
Possible Causes
o ASMs (or others)quote a timein excess of30 minutesfor theExpressLubeoil change
Customers that currently use aftermarket oilchange ou tlets have developed the perception that itshould take a
half houror less for an oi lchange.Ifthe dealershi p quotes a time that excee ds these expectations, they may not
come to the Toyot a dealership to try Express Lube.
Possible Remedies
Encourage everyone to mentiontheprogramnameandbenefitswheneverasked
"Yes,we offer Express Lube, and we will complete your oilchange in 29 minutes orthe nextone is free,

Ensurethat allASMs understandthe benefitsto thedealership
Increased service volume business
Increased referral potential
Stronger customer retention
Prevent ion ofJoss ofcustomers to aftermarketservice
Involve theASMsinimprovingtheExpress Lubeprocess
Provide eachASM his own copy of the laminated ASMExpress Lube Standa rds pocket card: (M/ N 00450-E1007-95)
Make sure that the ASMsbelieve that it is possibl e for the dealership to actually complete the service in tile
promised rime by walking them through the process at a shop meeting.
