The P-40B was an upgraded version of the P-40 fighter aircraft that entered service in 1940. It had an additional 0.50-inch machine gun in each wing for a total of four wing guns. The two 0.30-inch fuselage guns were retained. The first P-40B flew in March 1941 and was delivered with full camouflage. While having the same dimensions as the P-40, the P-40B weighed more and had slightly worse performance due to the additional weight. The export version was called the Tomahawk I.
