Calculation Based On Given Parametres

The document provides data for designing the air conditioning of a room, including outdoor conditions, desired indoor conditions, and various heat sources. It then asks to: (a) Calculate the total air required in m3/hr (b) Determine the dew point temperature of the coil (c) Identify the supply air conditions to the room (d) Calculate the capacity of the conditioning plant It provides equations to use psychrometric charts to analyze the system and determine required air flow and supply conditions based on the heat loads and fresh air intake.

CHAPTER 5 CALCULATION BASED ON GIVEN PARAMETRES

The following data is available for the design of air conditioning of a room: Outdoor Design Conditions Comfort Conditions required Solar Sensible Heat Gain No. of Occupants Sensible Heat gain per person Latent Heat gain per person Internal Heat gain Other Sensible Heat gain Infiltrated Air 40oC DBT and 29oC WBT 24oDBT and 50% RH 11.4 kW 80 58 W 58 W 15 lamps of 100 W & 10 tubes of 80 W 11.63 kW 15m3/min

If 25% of fresh air is mixed with 75% recirculated air and then passed through the conditioner coil then, Calculate: (a) Amount of total air required in m3/hr; (b) DPT of the coil; (c) Condition of supply air to the room; (d) Capacity of the conditioning Plant Take B.F.=2 Mark the points a and b as outdoor and indoor conditions of air on psychrometric chart and then mark the point c

ha =90 kJ/ kg, hb=48 kJ/ kg, hc=65 kJ/kg, vsa=0.912 m3/kg The mass of Infiltrated air is given by mai=15/0.912=16.45 kg/min Qs(Sensible Heat carried by Infiltrated air) = mai(hc- hb) = 16.45(65-48) = 279.65 kJ/min =4.66 kW Ql(Latent Heat carried by Infiltrated air) = mai(ha- hc) = 16.45(90-65) = 411.25 kJ/min =6.85 kW Sensible Heat Load a) b) c) d) e) Solar heat gain = 11.4 kW From Occupants = (58X80)/1000 =4.64 kW From Lamps= (100X15)/1000 = 1.5 kW From tubes = (80X10)/1000 = 0.8 kW From Infiltrated air = 4.66 kW

Total Sensible heat to be carried from the room = 34.63 kW

Latent Heat Load a) From Occupants = (58X80)/1000 =4.64 kW b) From Infiltrated air = 6.85 kW Total Latent heat to be carried from the room(Ql) = 11.49 kW RSHF= QS/(QS+Ql) = 34.63/(34.63+11.49) = 34.63/46.12 = 0.75

Now, draw a line through b parallel to RSHF = 0.75 and then join ab and mark the point c as bc/ca = 0.25/0.75= 0.33 bc/ba = 1/4 =0.25

Then mark the point e by trial and error method as de/dc =0.25 (given B.F.) Taking values from Psychrometric Chart ha=90 kJ/kg, vsa=0.912 m3/kg, hb= 48 kJ/kg, hc= 55kJ/kg, hd=17 kJ/kg, Td= 4o C, he= 25 kJ/kg, vse= 0.808 m3/kg
