Room 42 News
end of the first card marking which is November 8, 2013. Math: We are currently studying Unit 1 in our Common Core Units and right now are focusing on multiplication, division and numerical expressions. Please reinforce these concepts by practicing multiplication and division facts at home with your student daily. Science: We are reviewing our Life Over Time unit on how species change over time. We will have a Chapter 1 Test on Monday. Social Studies: We are studying how the 3 Worlds Meet: North America, Europa, and Africa. We are currently focusing on the first Explorers to North America: The Vikings and Lief Ericson. Language Arts/Writing: We are working on writers workshop: Personal Narratives. We are also studying nouns.

Week of 10/28
Spelling: Students study their Word Sort lists every day at school and should also at home by doing practice sorts. They are given 2 copies of their word list every Monday. One to keep at home and one to keep at school. WORD STUDY TESTS ARE EVERY FRIDAY. Reading: We are currently studying our CAF reading skills and strategies in readers workshop (Daily 5). We just started reading the novel The BFG. Students are required to earn a total of 15 AR points by the
