Site Manager: Frank Lamson-Scribner Number of Plants: One Number of Employees: 270 BASF employees Product/Uses: The site is a specialty chemical catalysts manufacturing and precious metal refining facility: Specialty chemical catalysts and precious metal salts and solutions that are used by BASF customers to produce a wide variety of products, including herbicides, plastics, pharmaceuticals, auto-emission catalysts, fragrances and fertilizers. Other products include specialty zeolites, desiccants and water-treatment media for the removal of lead, arsenic, and other impurities from drinking water. o The Seneca plant has expertise in the manufacturing of precious metal catalysts and the recovery of these metals from spent catalysts. We attempt to work with customers to supply fresh catalyst, as well as refine the spent in a full-loop service. o In addition, the refinery receives a variety of precious metal-containing scrap, wire, alloys, filters, concentrates, etc., from other markets. o The refinery prepares the spent material or scrap and samples, analyzes and refines them to a pure form. This pure metal is used for the re-manufacture of BASF products or sold to the outside market.
