The letter informs Andy Stern, President of SEIU, that Susana Segat is withdrawing her charges against Bruce Boccardi and his Bring Back Our Union slate. Segat reasons that Boccardi will need help leading the local through the economic crisis and cannot focus on members and an internal battle. Segat was honored to lead the local and thanks Stern and Anna Burger for their support, but continuing the fight will not help members, so she asks Stern to stop appointing a hearing officer.

Dear Brother Stern, 
 
This is to inform you that I am withdrawing my charges against Bruce 
Boccardi and his Bring Back Our Union slate.   
 
Since Brother Boccardi is taking office on June 23, 2009, during the worst 
economic crisis in decades, he is going to need all of the help he can get if 
he is to lead the local into protecting members’ jobs and defending their 
standard of living.  He is not able to both focus on our members and also 
fight an internal management battle. 
 
I am honored to have been able to lead this local and I thank you and Sister 
Burger for all of your support.  This job was never about power for me, it 
was about helping our members.  Keeping this fight going will not help our 
members’ cause, so I thank you if you will please stop your appointment of 
a hearing officer.
