TCS PAPER ON 4th JULY AT CHENNAI There was a online test which consisted of three sections. Verbal, critical reasoning and

quantitative aptitude. The software was very user friendly. VERBAL SECTION It consisted of 10 antonyms, 10 synonyms and two passage in which you have to fill in the blanks with correct sentences. Its a bit difficult but dont worry u can get through even if u don know anything in verbal. Refer barrons . QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE It consisted of 38 questions 40 mins. Very easy. All previous year questions were repeated. They dont even change the data. A graph was given. And equation of the curve was asked. CRITICAL REASONING This section consisted of 3 questions wit sub parts. It was for 25 mins. All the questions were from 12 edition barrons . They don even change the data and the order of questions. Its just cut copy paste from BARRONS 12 EDITION. Since it was online test for us so everyone had different set of questions. I was lucky to get exact same questions from barrons so I was the first one to come out of the hall with the TCS application form in the hand. 1. first question was red and brown marriage group 2. second was tat ned allen larry willy and rick lives in the first floor 3. third I don remember. But it was something G is father of.and there are more no of females in the second generation. TECHNICAL AND HR INTERVIEW We had the technical cum hr interview the next day. I had in the afternoon just after lunch. The panel was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. My first question was had u r lunch. Then they asked general questions like tell me about u r self? Why t cs? Why Chennai? Why should we hire you? I said unlike other candidates I want to become a part of this family of t cs and dont want to remain a mere employee. What is u r greatest achievement? Then questions on c and c++.? Please remember wether u r a IT or a non IT student they expect u to have some basic idea about c or c++. Then he started asking me on maths.trignometry.wat is cosec tan cot ..? I was interviewed for 25 minutes.but at the end of it I was confident that I ll get through. Next day when the results were declared I was one among the 785 students to be selected. just be confident and have a smile on your face. .. Hiii... Im Vindhya.I attended TCS off Campus drive for freshers (only CSE and IT Branches) held at Hyderabad on 6/7th October. TCS first opens up registration in the month of May but it conducts the exam only in the month of October (we need to have lots of patience!!). For Off Campus drive we will have to write a written exam which comprises of 3 sets(X,

Y, and Z). I heard about 14,000 students (7000 students on 6th Oct and abt 7000 students on 7th Oct) had attended this exam in Hyderabad. The written test results were announced on 11th Oct and only 2,338 students cleared the written exam. There was lots of competition; I would suggest u to score at least 52-55 in the written out of 82 questions. I got set X (brown color). I will post in the maximum questions I remember. For resoning plz go through GRE 13th edition..... go through all sections in that book... the same questions in that book will appear.. with change in names and places... study only the questions having more than 4 sub questions because only such questions will appear..... On 21st we had interviews... and it started early in the morning....I had only one roud of interview some of my friends were called for 2nd and 3rd round.....The interview was very nice there were two interviewrs....As soon as reached the table I greeted them sayin good morning... TCS PAPER ON 23rd JULY AT TRIVANDRUM

Hi, this is Thomas from SCT college of Engg, Tvm. TCS was the first company to recruit from our college. Out of 327 who appeared for the test, 164 got selected for the interview, from which 125 were finally selected. Selection consisted of 2 rounds: 1. Test 2. HR cum tech interview Test: The test was online. You get separate login IDs, take care to remember ur ID. It consisted of 3 sections: Aptitude , Verbal and analytical reasoning. There is a timer at the top right on the screen. You can go to the next section manually if u have finished the current section (but the pending time 'will not' be carried to the next section), or it automatically goes to the next section when the timer runs out. It is better 'not' to manually go to the next section, because sometimes if u double click on the button, it will skip the next section and go to the last section. So take care of that. You can go to any qn and even change the answer within a section. The qn numbers in that section will be displayed in the right side. Aptitude: This is the easiest section. It consists of 38 qns to be answered in 40 mins. I knew some 30-35 qns. 99% of the qns are repeated from previous tests. Just go through the past 40 qn papers in this site. Thats more than enough. You neednt study RS Aggarwal. Verbal: This was the toughest section for me. It consists of 32 qns to be answered in 20 mins. Time flies like anything for this section. It has 10 synonyms, 10 antonyms, a reading comprehension with 6 qns, and a passage with 6 blanks where we have to insert the correct sentences from the choices. I just randomly marked the choices for the passage with blanks to be filled. I flunked the reading comprehension, got some 2-3 qns correct. While reading the comprehension , the page gets reloaded every 10 secs , so i had to scroll down again, which is kind of frustrating. Synonyms and Antonymns are from Barrons. Any edition of Barrons is enough for this. Go through the high frequency word list, and also the antonyms. I do agree that memorizing these words are difficult within a short span of time, but try ur maximum. The only words i remember which were asked are incorrigible and aegis (both in the synonym section). Analytical Reasoning: Take Barrons 12th edition and go through all of the model test papers(1-5). Omit the passages containing 1 or 2 qns. Study the pasages with 4 or more qns. The passages and qns are cut ,copy, paste from Barrons. Some times (rarely), they change the names.

I had gone through the previous 40 qn papers in this site and found out which passages were asked. They are: Model test 1: Section5 - qns 1-4 (motorist), qns 13-16 (red and brown) Section6 - qns 1-4 (conservative,democratic), qns 8-11 (latin, sanskrit), qns 12-18 (joe,larry,ned), qns 19-22 (a causes b) Model test 2: Section1 - qns 19-22 (wallachia and rumelia) ---i got this qn, but the names were changed as london and paris, and a,b,c etc were changed as french, italian etc. Section6 - qns 8-12 (ashland, liverpool), qns 13-16 (spelunker) ---i got this qn, qns 17-22 (pesth) ---i got this one too Model test 3: Section6 - qns 1-4 (all Gs are Hs) Model test 4: Section5 - qns 8-11 (horizontal row), qns 19-22 (a,b,c cause d) Section6 - qns 8-12 (spanish, italian), qns 13-16 (all As, Bs), qns 17-22 (progressive federal party) Model test 5: Section3 - qns8-11 (museum), qns 19-22 (A is the father) Section7- qns 1-5 (prahtu, brahtu), qns 21-25 (scurvy) Analytical section consists of 12 qns to be answered in 30 mins. Take care of this section because the qns have more weightage here. Even if u answer aptitude and verbal well, u can lose the test if u flunk this section. PS: There is neither an upper cut off nor any dummy questions. They are just rumours. We asked them about dummy qns and they said there is nothin like that. Sometimes there will not be any right choice for a qn (eg: 384 to which base is 1234, choices are 5,6,7,8). In that case just mark any option. I got all the 12 qns in this section and there was 16 minutes left. I clicked on the Exit button and saw the screen showing "Congratulations, u are qualified". Interview: In our college the tech and HR interviews were not separate. It was a combined one. The duration varied from 5 mins to 45 mins for certain candidates. I thought that TCS would conduct the interviews on same day, but to my surprise there were around 10,000 ppl appearing for the off-campus. The TCS Recruitment followed the following PHASES when I appeared:1. Written Test: a. Verbal. b. Aptitude. c. Critical Reasoning. Friends this is the first phase of the recruitment. In this almost all old papers are sufficient to prepare for. Aptitude is not that much tough. For apti RS Agarwal is more then sufficient & please refer the old papers also. But verbal & CR is a little bit tough & most of the part comes from GRE Barron 12th Edition. In verbal, synonyms & antonyms come. It seems easy in first site but the words are too tough. In CR almost Questions come frm Barron's Test Series that are in the above said book. 2. Phychometry Test: Well friends when I appeared for TCS this phase was skipped. But as much I know abt TCS they ppl take it & mostly elimination is done in this phase. I have not much idea abt this phase. 3. Interview: Friends if u are at this stage then congratulations I think u have done almost 70% to have entry in TCS. Friends in my interview there were 3 ppl. In that 2 were technical guys & 1 was a HR lady. All three were too cool. They had asked the following questions: 1. Tell us about urself 2.. What is the meaning of "#include " in any c program? 3. What types of files are created in having any C program & wats the exact procedure? 4. What do you mean by Virtual Table, Virtual Function & Friend Function? 5. What do you mean by normalization? 6. They had given me a table & asked me that how many tables will be created after normalization? 7. Then I have told them that my favourite subject is ERP the have asked me what is

They replied that these are the same...Then I again proved them that these two are much different...." 24. Are you agree with 2 years bond with TCS? 25. There is one more round after all this MEDICAL....are u ready for that....? Friends I want to tell you one thing that if you are fresher & confident then you will be the part of TCS surely. They ppl check your presence of mind, smartness & your power of difficult situtation handelling. If you are giving the tech answers wrong you must be confident.( But not all questions frnds, for few quest only). They ignore 2-3 wrong answers but not more then that....... 4. HR: Friends if u have cleared the tech round then u will be asked to go for HR. But sometimes they take HR & Tech both rounds in one interview. In my case my both rounds were in one interview(HR+TECH). I had impressed my interviewers with my tech & hr questions. I had given almost all tech answers right. I had cleared the HR queries very confidently. 5. Managerial Round: Friends if you have cleared the tech round then you were asked to go for MR. But some times they dont take MR. It depends on the format of their selection. I was not asked to appear for the MR. If u cleared the above 4 rounds then you are 99% in TCS untill or unless You dont give any stupid answer or you loose ur confidence. Please have a look on TCS site atleast once b4 appearing in MR. Friends in the end I would like to say that TCS is not impossible for freshers. Just plan

well & do a smart work & surely you will be in TCS. It was my first call from any company & b4 it I had not appered for any test or not get even single call. Paper pattern 1>thy have three different sets 2>each set has three sections a> English(10 antonyms n 10 syno..)...( 32 marks 20 mins) b> Reading comprehension passages and comleting sentence(6 + 6)marks 2nd section is Quantitative...(40 mins 38 ques).. 3rd section is Critical reasoning..(30 mins 12 ques..) how to prepare??????? FOR ENGLISH jus go thru all previous TCS papers collect the words tht hv been asked n jus get thr menaing frm gre barrons if u can't manage the previous papers ...mk sure u go thru all excersices tht r thr in barrons(only synonyms & antonym sections). . ths excersises r thr at the end of each sections .....n majority of questions were picked frm thr cuttoff for ths section is not really high othr two sections r valued more... INTERVIEW TIPS......... therr are two rounds of interview ROUND TECHNICAL INTERVIEW.. but its actually a mix of HR(or MR) n technical. just be clear with ur basics , they wont ask anything big or something. detailed just simple concepts n would c ur ability to explain things. n above all ur understanding questions varied in the following concepts:(general) DBMS-normalisation(1NF,2NF,3NF,4NF,5NF..IMPORTANT).,DML,DDL, SQL querry,primary key, whts a null,thy wil ask syntax of some queries.... Data structure stack , queue, linked list(write a pgm using list), sorting(wont ask to write algm,thy focus on the procedure of algm) ... orders of various sorts........... Software engineering(SDLC,all models, V & V,etc)........c++ encaptulation,data abstraction,frnd fun,inline fun),inheritance, polymorphism, function overloading, over riding,templates......... ,C(mostly) OPERATING SYSTEM... thy touched upon basics only and for my friends they asked from Logic Design also...so be prepare(jus basics like gate,flip-flop.,etc) MY QUESTIONS: 1)tell about urself 2)family background 3)do u know abt c & c++ programming? HR INTERVIEW whatever is left unfilled in the form is completed. this interview is taken by VP so mk sure u communicate well n u hv a positive body language simple questions on family n u as a person Be confidant while answering the qs... thy will check ur communication skills...its very very important... whatever u answer,tell confidantly...only confidanance matters in HR.. 1)the first question was always tell about urself... 2)why tcs? 3)strengths n weaknesses(most of us faced prblm while answering tis q..tell +ve weaknesses.tell ur strengths properly) 4)r u mobile? 5)r u ready for working anywher in the country?wherever uwe place? 6)r u ready to do sign for our agreement? then she said there will be medical check whil joining.. in our college for some students they conducted one small GD...it means it's not actual gd,thy gave one topic and asked to tell ur opinoin on this topic(the topic was "IT BOOM" is it healthy?); results will be announced tommorrow...hoping for got thru.... Hi Friends..... I am Pavithra doing my final year(IT) in Srm Institute of Scienc and Technology, Kattankulathur..... I am very happy that i got Placed in TCS.... the days before our placement was really hetic... dont know wt to do.., wt to prepare... all the students were studying the RS agarwal book.... but i didnt start at all i was scared how my placement would be... but some how i got placed.... 2 days before i started my preparation at full stretch.... For us TCS placement went on for 4 days.... we had preplacement talk one day(jul 2nd), aptitude one day(jul 3rd) and interview for the next two days(jul 4th and 5th).... first students has to clear the aptitude test that would be a online test.... The test consists of 3 sections(verbal-20mins, quantative-40mins and critical reasoning30mins) for 90 mins... automatic timer would be running and system will automatic switch to next session after the time gets over..... one has to remain in the section until the time gets over...... here i will put up the questions which i got.... go through it and it would very much helpful and easy.................... I cleared the aptitude and the next day is my interview(jul 4th)... everybody was in a tension and me too the same.... but i made myself cool and attended the interview.... for me the interview is for 35mins.... question asked in the interview was... Tell me about urself... about my project...... stress interview for some time..... friends in stress interview they will tease u.., dont get emtional.... stay cool everytime keep in mind that they are wanted doing those things.... Technical questions..... the questions asked for me is from basics.... so it became easy for me to answer..... then some questions from my resume..... then they announced the result on Jul 5th at 9.45pm... it was really a tough time that day....
