Climate and Seasons

The climate on Earth depends on the intensity of sunlight, which varies throughout the year and in different parts of the planet. The northern hemisphere receives more direct sunlight in June, July, and August, causing summer. In December, January, and February the sunlight is more indirect, causing winter with snow north of the Tropic of Cancer. The transitional seasons are spring in March-May when flowers bloom and fall is September-November when leaves fall and it gets cold again. Near the equator the climate remains warm year-round.
