Managerial Written and Oral Communication

Interpersonal communication is the process of exchanging information, feelings, and meaning between individuals through verbal and non-verbal messages. It involves a sender encoding a message, transmitting it through a channel, a receiver decoding the message, and providing feedback. Effective interpersonal communication depends on several factors, including the communicators, message, feedback, context and channel used. It can occur through direct or indirect channels and is inescapable, irreversible, and complicated. Active listening is a key technique that requires being receptive and responding to what is said as well as nonverbal cues. Common barriers to interpersonal communication include language differences, organizational hierarchy, noise, distance, emotions, and inattentiveness.
