Treating Hemorrhoids
Treating Hemorrhoids
Before you begin treating hemorrhoids you should know exactly what kind you have. All
hemorrhoids are either external or internal.
External hemorrhoids usually hurt, but they can be treated at home unless a clot forms.
Internal hemorrhoids are classified in four different degrees.
Before you rush to the hospital, try to treating hemorrhoids yourself at home. Unless the
pain is becoming unbearable or you are bleeding extensively, home treatments are usually
the best option.
About 95% of people who get hemorrhoids can be cured within several days by treating
hemorrhoids at home.
To start treating hemorrhoids at home, start to eat more fruit, vegetable, and whole grains
that are high in fiber. These will help soften your stools so that it is less painful to go to the
bathroom.
You will also want to drink more water and take several warm baths a day. Refrain from
having caffeine, cigarettes, or alcohol as they can aggravate your symptoms. Keep going to
the bathroom as needed, don’t hold back knowing that it will hurt because this just makes it
worse.
If treating hemorrhoids at home wasn’t enough you should seek the advice of a doctor.
However, home remedies are a VERY effective form of hemroids treatment.
Whenever there is an unusual large amount of blood, the pain is too much, or the
hemorrhoids have persisted for more than a week you should see a doctor. He or she may
be able to offer you medication to help reduce pain or heal the hemorrhoid.
Doctors often suggest that patients sit in a warm bath of sitz water several times a day to
relieve symptoms.
They may also suggest medicated wipes to clean the area and reduce inflammation. Witch
hazel is a very common method of medication and is considered very effective.
In very rare cases surgery may be needed. Surgery is only used in treating hemorrhoids
when an internal hemorrhoid protrudes from the anus and has its blood supply cut off
making it extremely painful, an external hemorrhoid could not be fixed with home
treatment, or if the hemorrhoid is causing a great deal of pain or extensive bleeding.
Typically surgery is used as the last effort to get rid of hemorrhoids, although the surgery
can result in some down time, pain, and bleeding.
It is not given to women who are pregnant except when the bleeding and pain persist after
other treatments.
When treating hemorrhoids through surgery, patients will either have it cut off or
suffocated. A hemorrhoid is suffocated by tying it with a rubber band. This band cuts off the
blood supply and causes it to die in time.
To get the fastest relief you should follow these procedures for treating hemorrhoids.
