St Josephs Primary School
Proud to be sharing your childs education.
Unity
I dreamed I stood in a studio And watched two sculptors there The clay they used was a young child's mind And they fashioned it with care. One was a teacher - the tools she used Were books, music and art, The other, a parent, worked with a guiding hand and a gentle loving heart. Day after day, the teacher toiled with touch that was deft and sure. While the parent labored by her side and polished and smoothed it o'er. And when at last their task was done, They were proud of what they had wrought. For the things they had molded into the child Could neither be sold nor bought. And each agreed they would have failed if each had worked alone, For behind the teacher stood the school and behind the parent, the home.

Safety
In order to provide a safe environment for your children it is essential that staff know if there are any changes to their daily travel arrangements. Children are not allowed to leave the school grounds with anyone other that their parents unless you have given written permission for them to do so. Should you be unable to do this, a call to the school office will suffice. Given the amount of traffic at the front of the school, both before and after school, it is important to remember general road safety principles. Ensure children enter and exit the car from the kerb, use the school crossing, and hold the hands of younger children as they cross the road.
Please note the change to lunch time and the change of time for the end of the day. In the morning, the bell rings at 8:45am to ensure children are in class by 8:50am. Should you be late, your child will need to be brought to the front office for a late slip which is then given to the classroom teacher.
Nuts
Due to several children having nut allergies there are to be no nut based products at school.
Ash Wednesday
Our first whole school Mass will be for Ash Wednesday on the 13th Feb. Mass will be held in the parish church at 9:30am. If your child has not been to an Ash Wednesday Mass before it would be a good opportunity to speak to them about what will be happening, particularly the fact that father will be placing ashes on their forehead in the sign of a cross. If your child has not been to Mass for some time please take them along to the Sunday or Saturday night Mass so they have an idea of what to do when we go on Ash Wednesday. Parents are most welcome to join us for Mass.
Canteen
Canteen will resume on Wednesday 6th Feb.
