Geometry Map Project Angles, Lines and Triangles

Due Date: Friday, January 18, 2013

Your task is to design a map that includes several different kinds of lines, angles and triangles. Your map can be of a town, your neighborhood, or of a made up place. It must, however, include the following elements: - Two sets of streets that are parallel-color code these red - Two sets of streets that are perpendicular-color code these yellow - One street that intersects another street to form an obtuse angle-highlight angle in orange - One street intersects another to form an acute angle-highlight angle in green - One street that is a line segment- color coded purple - One street that is a line-color coded pink - One street that is a ray-color coded brown - A building in the shape of an equilateral triangle-outline in black - A building in the shape of a scalene triangle-outline in blue - A building in the shape of an isosceles triangle-outline in red - Your map must also include a compass rose Your map should be a satellite (or birds eye) view. Think of a theme and name all your streets and buildings according to that theme. Once you have included all the required pieces, feel free to be creative and add any touches to individualize your map. You will be creating the map using the construction paper distributed in class. Once your map is completed you are to give directions for how to get from one place to another on your map. Directions should be a minimum of 4 steps. Your steps must include at least one of the following terms: parallel, intersecting or perpendicular. These directions should be specific enough to follow so that I can get from one place to another without getting lost! Turn in typed directions on a separate sheet of paper along with your map. This project will be scored using the Geometry Map Rubric
