Essential Questions:: Week 13: Home Project

The document provides instructions for a home project to evaluate expressions involving fractions through examples. Students are asked to show how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions with the same or different denominators using regular fractions and mixed numbers with word problems. They must also explain the distributive property. The project can be presented as a lesson booklet, poster, or digitally and will be graded on mathematical understanding, terminology use, diagrams, and organization.

Week 13: Home Project Essential Questions: How should we evaluate expressions involving fractions?

What if there is more than one operation? 4 1 2 3 Example: ( ) ( ). 5 4 3 4 Task: Using several examples, show and describe how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with fractions (both where the denominator is the same and different) with regular fractions and mixed numbers. You MUST include at least one word problem example for each type of fraction problem. Dont forget to mention the distributive property! Remember: this should be presented in such a way that someone who has no idea will be able to understand the mathematics! You may choose to represent this by creating a lesson booklet, a poster, or by creating something digitally (e.g. a PowerPoint slideshow or a video). Be creative! You will be graded, using the following rubric. Rubric:
