Kerala has a GDP of $26.4 billion and contributes 2.6% of India's workforce, though it makes up only 1.26% of total FDI. About half of Kerala's population depends on agriculture, producing 92% of India's rubber, 70% of coconuts, and virtually all of its lemon grass oil. Kerala has seen impressive 10.25% annual GDP growth driven by growth in all sectors, and its per capita income of $618.9 is higher than India's $514.2, with only 3.6% of its population below the poverty line compared to 19.34% nationwide.

Keralas Economic Overview

With a GDP of $26.4 billion, Kerala is among the wellperforming states in India It contributes 2.6 per cent of Indias Population to the workforce. FDI approved in the state was $270.4 million which constituted 1.26 per cent of the total FDI approvals in the country. About 50 per cent of the population depends on agriculture On a national scale, 92 % of the rubber,70% of coconut, & almost 100% of lemon grass oil is produced from the state.

People-Economic Prosperity
The per capita income in Kerala is amongst the highest in the country. Having grown from $416.3 in 2004-05 to $618.9 in 2009-10 It is higher than the all-India per capita income of $514.2. The % of population in Kerala below poverty line was 3.6 %in 2004-05, as compared to the all-India 19.34%.
