Formation

The document discusses soccer formations and tactics. It notes that many formations like 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 can work, but some prefer a narrow counter-attacking style through the middle rather than wide. The author has experimented with a custom counter-attacking tactic with a build-up play speed of 95, passing of 60, and organised positioning. The defense uses cover and has low pressure, average aggression, and medium width. The style of play discussed includes solely counter-attacking and defending to launch quick counters, or mixing counter-attacks with other tactics.

Well really, any formation works. It's the custom-tactic what matters.

I suppose it'd be a plus to have a formation with width. I mean you can't go wrong with 4-3-3 or 4-23-1. But then some people like a narrow counter-attack, going through the middle rather than wide. I don't play counter-attacks, but I gave it a go once merely out of interest and I come up with a good custom tactic for it. Build-Up Play Speed: 95 Passing: 60 Positioning: Organised Chance Creation Passing: 80 Crossing: 60 Shooting: 75 Positioning: Free Form Defence Pressure: 1 - 10 Aggression: 50 Width: 50 Defender Line: Cover I don't know what style you play, whether you solely base your method of winning through counterattacks, and defend throughout and spring quick counter-attacks at every given moment at the risk of losing the ball, or play just a mix of both, and you just counter-attack whenever you have the chance; i.e. after your opponent's done a corner, free-kick etc
