San Diegans: How Can the City Improve its Budget Process?
City Council Committee Invites Public Input on Infrastructure Program Development
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 24, 2012) Councilmember Todd Gloria, chair of the Committee on Budget and Finance Committee invites City of San Diego residents to a hearing on Wednesday, July 25 to weigh in on potential enhancements to the development of the Citys infrastructure program to strengthen public participation in the process. Councilmember Gloria scheduled two items related to the Citys Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) program for hearings in response to public comments during the passage of the current years budget. To address community members concerns about the development of the CIP budget, the main purpose of both items is to increase public participation in the process, said Councilmember Gloria. Eventually, this will benefit the process as we look to create a multi-year CIP program budget and explore various financing options. The Capital Improvement Program is what the City uses to plan for funding and completing all kinds of infrastructure projects, from new streetlights to renovations at facilities like fire stations. San Diegans should attend the meeting to learn more about the City prioritizes and plans infrastructure projects and how community members can provide input to ensure that the most needed projects are known. The Committee meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. on the 12th floor of the City Administration Building, 202 C Street. The CIP-related items are expected to be discussed after 10:30 a.m. San Diegans are encouraged to attend, and people can always follow along with online streaming and on CityTV.
